Grandma Bray’s Apple Cookies
OMG Y’ALL. These apple cookies are FANTASTIC. They are like little bursts of apple-y goodness topped with a delicious glaze. Of all the apple treats we have been making this year, these are definitely in the top 3. Apple season is in full swing and apple picking is such a fun and festive activity this time of year. Since many now have an abundance of apples, this is the perfect recipe to use a couple up and enjoy a fall treat that is sure to get you into that festive fall spirit!
Grandma’s Apple Cookies
These babies are nuggets of apple and fall spices toped with a sweet glaze
Ingredients
Cookies
- 1½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup crisco
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp apple cider
- 1½ cups chopped unpeeled apples
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup chopped nuts
Frosting
- 1½ cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp butter soft
- ¼ tsp vanilla
- dash salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F
- Cream butter and Crisco together
- Beat in egg until fluffy
- Add dry ingredients
- Fold in apples, raisins and nuts
- Bake 7 to 8 minutes
- While cookies are baking, make frosting by combining all ingredients and beating together until smooth
- Frost cookies while they are still warm
