Strawberry Jam
Strawberry jam is my third favorite jam. Rhubarb and strawberry rhubarb jam will always hold the sacred first/second place positions, but since rhubarb is practically impossible to find down here (#annoying), plain strawberry just has to do. My jam recipes do not involve gelatin (because honestly gelatin seems gross to me) but the strawberries really reduce down to the perfect jam like consistency. I add a lot of lemon to my jam, but feel free to dial it back you’re not a lemon fanatic.
Strawberry Jam
easy peasy strawberry jam
Ingredients
- 4 cups strawberries chopped
- 1/2-1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2-3 lemons juice and zest
Instructions
- place all ingredients in sauce pan and cook on low for about 45 minutes, stirring every few minutes, until the strawberries are broken down and the mixture thickens – the longer you cook it, the thicker the jam will be
- test for sweetness and add more sugar if desired
Notes
be sure to stir this often, otherwise it will burn!
