Turkey Pigs in a Blanket

It is GAME DAY, y’all!!! Today is David’s favorite day of the year – the start to NC State Football!!! In honor of this very special occasion, I bring you one of my favorite appies – turkey pigs in a blanket. I know, everyone knows about these. BUT – these are better because instead of crescent roll dough, I use pizza dough. Let me tell you, the pizza dough is SO much better. All you need is mini turkey sausages and some pizza dough and you are ready to roll! I like to serve these little cuties with marinara sauce and ketchup.

the cute little Nora Fleming football mini is the perfect touch for a game time snack!

Cuisine American

Ingredients

  • pizza dough
  • little bite sized turkey franks
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F
  • Roll out pizza dough and cut into little strips – the size of the strip depends on how much dough you want on your little sausage
  • Wrap dough around each sausage and place on baking sheet
  • Make egg wash by whisking egg with a little water then brush the tops of the dough with the egg wash
  • Bake pigs for 8-12 minutes, until dough is golden brown (the thicker the dough, the longer the bake time)

Notes

If you can’t find the little cocktail turkey sausages, you can use turkey hot dogs or turkey sausages (or any sausage that is pre-cooked)!
