13 Nights of Halloween – Night 11
On this 11th day of the 13 Nights of Halloween I bring you a spooky black widow bread bowl!! To make this easy peasy bread bowl, simply make your favorite pizza dough recipe (l like the King Arthur recipe) and add in black food coloring! I use my homemade marinara sauce but feel free to use whatever you like.
Black Widow Bread Bowl
Ingredients
- pizza dough
- black food coloring
- coarse salt
- garlic olive oil
- marinara sauce for filling
Instructions
- Make dough following recipe instructions and add black food coloring
- Let dough rise for an hour in a greased bowl
- Preheat oven to 450°F
- Shape pizza into spider shape by making one large ball and 8 legs
- Let rise for another hour to an hour and a half, covered with a damp towel so it doesn't dry out
- Before baking, brush spider with garlic olive oil and sprinkle with coarse salt
- Bake ~40 minutes, until crust is cooked through – you will have to cover legs after about 20 minutes with foil to prevent from burning
- When bread bowl is cooled, cut hourglass shape into body of spider and fill with marinara sauce
