Air Fried Shrimp

I am going to start this off by saying I am not SUPER into the shrimp scene. I like shrimp, sure, but I typically will not go out of my way to eat it. However, David loves shrimp. So, one day when we were getting stuffed fish from the fancy section of Lowe’s (the nice grocery store in town) for Fancy Friday*, we ended up getting these pre-breaded shrimp as an appetizer. I fried them in the air frier and oh my god, they were delicious. So in an effort to recreate that delicious appetizer, I bring you these air fried shrimp!

*Fancy Friday – Every Friday David and I wear “nice” (read – not soft clothes) and eat in the dining room. It is super fun because we get to use the fancy dishes and silverware. I also LOVE setting the table with a pretty place setting. David thinks I am nuts, but it is just so fun! I think he does like Fancy Fridays though because we usually have a nicer meal and it is really nice to sit down together and talk after the long workweek!

side note – how springy does this look? I am so obsessed with this lemon table runner from Target (sadly it looks like it is sold out) and my little lemon mini

  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • 3 egg whites

  • 2 cups panko
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp cayenne

  • Preheat air fryer to 400°F for 15 minutes
  • Combine flour and half of seasonings
  • Combine panko and other half of seasonings
  • Combine egg whites and water, mix well
  • Pat shrimp dry, then toss in flour mixture
  • Brush off excess flour then dip in egg mixture
  • Finally coat in panko – repeat for all shrimp
  • Spray/brush canola oil lightly over air fryer grates and tops of shrimp then place shrimp in air fryer basket – careful not to crowd. You will probably have to do this in batches, I had to do two batches in my air fryer (4 qt).
  • Cook at 400°F for about 4 minutes – until shrimp are cooked through and coating is crispy
