Chocolate Heart Hand Pies
How cute are these festive little nuggets?! Cute little heart shaped hand pies that are stuffed with a delicious chocolate mixture that stars the best spread in all the land: Nutella!! I mean just look at that flaky goodness!!!
Chocolate Hand Pie
a chocolate – hazelnut filled hand pie that tastes like dessert but could totally be eaten for breakfast
Ingredients
- 2 11 inch pie crust dough
- 1 cup chocolate hazelnut spread
- 2/3 cup powdered sugar sifted
- 1/4 tsp espresso powder
- 1 small pinch salt
- 6 tbsp milk
- 1/2 cup royal icing
- 1 egg white beaten
Royal Icing
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extracct
- 1-2 tbsp milk
- small pinch salt
- food coloring optional
Instructions
- set oven to 400°F
- roll out pie dough to two 11 inch circles and cut out 12 shapes using cookie cutter
- mix together chocolate hazelnut spread, powdered sugar, espresso, milk and a pinch of salt
- scoop one tbsp of the chocolate mixture and place in center of 6 of the shapes
- brush the eqq white around the edges of the shapes with filling and place another dough shape on top, sealing the edges by taking a fork and pressing all the way around
- bake 15-18 minutes
- while pies cool, make royal icing by mixing together powdered sugar, extract, salt and milk and food coloring (optional)
- when poptarts cooled – drizzle icing over poptarts
